Hope you're all doing well. I'd like to open this weeks issue with an Amazon-related haiku. This is likely a puzzling start for many readers - I'm all but certain this will be the first you've read. But there is a good reason. The author is currently based in Vietnam and has been stuck indoors, alone, for nearly a month. The gentle tendrils of insanity have started creeping in, leading to, you guessed it, Amazon-related haiku writing. Here goes: Issues can be tough, It's not award-winning work but I've got about 50 more so brace yourselves. Let's do some news! |
"One of the great challenges in life is knowing enough to think you're right but not enough to know you're wrong." - Neil DeGrasse Tyson
Rescuing a suspended listingAs promised, this week I'm changing things up and not recommending a podcast that John has featured in. I'm going to talk about this YouTube video that he's featured in instead. The awesome Ian Smith from the Evolve Media Agency has a channel made just for Amazon sellers with some great guests, hints and tips no matter where you're at with your business. In this episode they discuss how to recover a suspended listing. For our clients reading, we've got you covered, but for everyone else John gives a simple step-by-step walkthrough on how to go about getting it back. On top of that he talks about the client we saved from losing out on selling her business making her millions of dollars (plug). Check it out down there v

Making the most of end-of-summer dealsFor those of you in summer-ready niches there's been a quick announcement from Amazon about getting deals listed on Outlet: To help you better take advantage of Outlet and its sale events, we’ve improved the deal submission process to increase the chances that your deals will be approved. Customers shop Outlet for markdowns, overstock deals, and clearance products. Creating Outlet deals can help you clear excess and aged inventory in any product category, improve cash flow, and reduce total storage fees. In the US, the UK, and the EU, we’ll be launching end-of-summer sale events to drive more traffic to Outlet pages that feature apparel, shoes, and outdoors, lawn, and garden products. Deals that meet ASIN image-quality standards may be prominently featured in these events. Basically, they want you to sell off your stock on the cheap. If you've got any of the products they've listed that you want to sell through quickly then this could be a great way to do it.

Net content, item form and number of itemsAs of October 26th, there's going to be some additional attributes required for a range of different items. Working out the specifics of this particular piece of news is trying to unravel the mysteries of the universe, however there are some aspects which are clear(ish).
Additionally, Amazon are adjusting the allowed values for the Unit Count Type attribute. That means if your products are in the shocking 154 different product types for number of items, the 86 product types for item form or the 8 product types for net content then you're going to need to make sure you have these updated for current and future listings to make sure you don't run in to any issues. There's an FAQ section here where you can get more info about the products that fall in to these categories. Best of luck untangling that string! You can also read the full article below.
