Happy Singles Day! As what is officially the biggest sales day in the world, even bigger than Black Friday, I hope everyone has had a strong showing. Now, I don't disparage finding an excuse to celebrate as a rule, but we're running out of something-day-less days of the year. Eventually we won't need dates or months. 'Are you available at 9am next Asparagus Day?'. Anyway, whether you're one of the singles that this day is celebrating or whether you've already found the one (one), there is one (one) thing I can say for sure - Amazon shifts like the sand so I've always got some news to write about. Let's get in to it. |
“Success is a science; if you have the conditions, you get the result.” - Oscar Wilde
FBA given a whole new meaningAmazon once again decided last year that they didn't have quite enough of a monopoly on the western world so, in a cunning move by big Jeff, they decided to take FBA to a whole other level and start their own shipping company. With lower prices than FedEx and UPS, Amazon Freight isn't only bringing goods to and from it's own warehouses, but they're looking to compete with more generic parcel services. I know this is old news for many of you, but I thought it was worth noting as there have been indications that they're going to go nuts with this idea. Pretty soon most of those lumbering, smoke-belching monstrosities you see carrying all the cargo containers will have the smiling arrow emblazoned on the side.

Amplifying your reach with Sponsored Brand campaignsFrom time to time, Amazon will run their own training sessions to help newer sellers get up and running on their platform and make sure they're spending all their money on internal PPC. This is one such time. The reason I'm mentioning this in the newsletter is because it could give even experienced sellers and interesting perspective on what Amazon's own experts say you should be doing to make the most out of what they're offering. It goes without saying that you don't need to take any of their advice, but if you're just getting started it could be a useful resource - even if it's just highlighting what others are doing wrong so that you can avoid it. They've got a live webinar on 18th November with limited spots - you can sign up below.

Small and Light products are also eligible bachelors todayAs of 29th October, the bar for entry to the FBA Small and Light programme has been lowered. If you're selling anything small then you've got to get involved with this. Amazon say: "To make it easier for your products to qualify for the program, we no longer require a minimum sales velocity for your ASINs. Check out the full story (the above is pretty much it but there are other links) - it has more details on how to sign up.

Ecomcy, comme çaI had the pleasure of speaking to a smashing chap called Vincenzo last week. He started out as a seller and was doing so well some of his pals asked him to manage their brands. That blossomed in to a fully-fledged full service agency in no time at all who are doing incredible work with a really efficient team. They've managed to 10x some of their clients sales in the first 6 months which is a testament in itself - these guys know what they're doing and they can work with sellers of all sizes, even helping from the launch phase. They're reasonably priced, great at what they do and well worth speaking with. Just for our awesome Treacle Thursday (placeholder still in place) readers, they're offering a totally free full audit of your account. See what Vincenzo has to say - if nothing else you'll have a great chat!
